About

One question, asked the same way of every facility, with the answer shown as they gave it.

The method

We keep one record per facility and attach evidence to it: a page on the official site, a chatbot FAQ answer, a written reply, a phone call. A status is derived from that evidence, never typed in by hand. Facilities that say no are not listed, so that a listing never works against a business. Anything we could not confirm is marked unconfirmed, which is not a no.

01
We read the official rule

FAQ pages, facility pages and the chatbot answers most inns hide their policy in. The original Japanese is kept, word for word.

02
We ask when it is not written

A written enquiry first, then a phone call on behalf of travelers. Two questions: is it OK, and under what conditions.

03
You see the proof

Every status carries its source, the date, and an expiry. Policies change; when a check has expired, the listing says so.

What the statuses mean

  • Solo with dinner · confirmed An official source says yes, with no conditions.
  • Solo · limited plans An official source says yes, with conditions (they are listed on the page).
  • Solo plans (by plan name) Travelers or forums say yes; we have not seen it in writing from the facility.
  • Unconfirmed Nothing found, or the sources disagree. Not a no.
  • Two guests minimum An official source says no. These facilities are never listed.

Their words, not ours

Where a facility has written its rule down, we quote it word for word in Japanese with a link to the source, and add an English rendering marked as ours. We do not paraphrase a rule and present it as theirs.
